《大论》第十四卷,“又有四种为令解脱速得圆满,勤修行者圣解脱欲胜任持法,为断四爱增上力故,谓为衣服、饮食、卧具、少有所求,无作无乱,时无虚度,勤修方便,心离散乱,乐断烦恼,乐修正道”,这里的四法,韩老的《披寻记》里说是:衣服、饮食、卧具和乐断乐修,而妙老的解释是:衣服、饮食、卧具和少有所求,究竟是哪四法?

這四法是指四聖種,《集異門足論》說:

「四聖種者:一、有苾芻隨得衣服便生喜足,讚歎喜足,不為求覓衣服因緣,令諸世間而生譏論。若求不得終不懊歎、引頸希望、撫胸迷悶;若求得已如法受用,不生染著、耽嗜、迷悶、藏護、貯積,於受用時能見過患,正知出離,彼由隨得衣服喜足,終不自舉,陵篾於他,而能策勤、正知、繫念,是名安住古昔聖種。二、有苾芻隨得飲食便生喜足,廣說如前。三、有苾芻隨得臥具便生喜足,廣說如前。四、有苾芻愛斷樂斷,精勤隨學,於斷愛樂;愛修樂修,精勤隨學,於修愛樂。彼由如是斷修愛樂,終不自舉,陵篾於他,而能策勤、正知、繫念,是名安住古昔聖種。」
